Wreaths Across America

Thank you for your responses. Enough interest has been shown for Pack 65 to attend the Wreath Placing ceremony at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. The service begins at 12 noon on Saturday, Dec. 11th. We have been asked to arrive between 11:30 and 11:40.

The scouts will serve as part of the Honor Guard during the service and will then be led to the gravesites where they will be able to place donated wreaths. Full Class A uniforms are required for this event. Depending on the weather, the boys may have to put on several layers beneath their uniform shirts. A request by council has also been made that the boys do not wear sneakers. If the weather turns wet, jackets may be worn over their uniforms.

I am estimating that the ceremony will last approximately one hour. As this is the first year for our Pack to be involved in this ceremony, I am unsure what exactly to expect. However, I feel that our young men will gain a greater appreciation of our Armed Forces and of those who sacrificed for our country. There is a website for more information on the wreaths: Wreathsacrossamerica.org.

We will meet in the front parking lot of the Hershey Elementary School on the 11th between 10:30 and 10:45. We will then caravan to the Gap as a group. If you have any questions, please contact Neil Biser at 566-4323 or nabiser@comcast.net.

I will have my cell phone that AM if you need to contact Neil: 433-1067.
